I assumed that the higher the AHI, the more pressure needed and vice versa.


Hi,

That is an incorrect assumption. There is no correlation between pressure and severity of OSA. You can have a very mild case that needs a pressure of 24, or a very bad case that responds to a pressure of 9. Each person has their own magic number, and if you are running at a pressure below that magic number, your treatment might not be effective.
