Mask for high pressure (can you recommend)

Postby DaveMunson on Thu Nov 19, 2009 11:32 am

I'm looking at replacing my mask with a different mask: possibly a full face mask.

Can anyone recommend a mask that seals well and is comfortable at higher pressures (>15)?

Thanks

Dave...

You don't say if you are at present using a full face or not.I have used full face but settled to use a nasal mask.I just picked up the new Resmed Softgel. It is an awsome mask, almost no leaks, light weight and very quiet.

Dave...

I forgot to put in my pressures in.My IPAP min.is set at 15 and my IPAP max. is set at 30.So you see I have no trouble with leaks at high pressure.

I use a Hybrid. Seals great at 17...with elastic holding the pillows in place.

I use the Swift LT nasal pillows, and have used them with bilevel pressure as high as 16/12. As long as the leak is constant and within reason, I seem to get good therapy.

I use a quattro and used to use it with my machine at the highest setting the machine could be set to before I had surgery.
However you need to try on different masks. What works for me or someone else may not work for you. Your best bet is if your DME loans out masks like mine does. I tried on different masks and kept the one or ones I liked and took a few home. Then I would keep the one that was best and try others. I would switch between different masks until I had one I was comfortable with.

Good luck

Gerry

I use the F&P Forma, can't say enough good things about it.
Canada...I can't say anything nice, so I won't say anything at all.

I use a nasal mask as well and personally I wouldnt use anything else. I started with a FFM and had nothing but trouble with it. My pressures are 21/17 so finding something that would seal without having to overtighten mask straps was a challenge in itself. My nasal mask seems to handle my high pressures okay.

Thanks to all.

I started with pillows in 2005. Didn't work out; never got through the initial nose pain. I will be checking out the ones that don't involve the inside of my nose.
